How do I verify a contractor's license?

As of July 1, 2024, My Safe FL Home is allowing homeowners to select a licensed contractor to complete recommended improvements.

Please see the following guidelines: 

1. The homeowner must provide the name and license number of the contractor(s) chosen during the Contractor Confirmation stage of the Grant Application to be reviewed. 
2. The Contractor's license must be certified or registered with Florida's Department of Business & Professional Regulation (DBPR). Ensuring the contractor is appropriately licensed is the responsibility of the homeowner. To verify the license of your intended contractor please visit the DBPR website here.

PLEASE NOTE: My Safe Florida Home Program and the Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) are not involved in or responsible for the contractor selection process or any aspects of the construction and payment process.  The program assumes no responsibility for the performance of the homeowner’s selected contractor. It is the sole responsibility of the homeowner to find and manage an eligible contractor and oversee the contractor relationship.
