Does a Sub-Contractor need to be licensed?

Modified on Wed, 19 Mar at 3:21 PM

It is the sole responsibility of the Homeowner to find an eligible licensed Contractor, and manages their own relationship with the Contractor. Typically, the General Contractor oversees the project and any Sub-Contractors that are hired.

If the Sub-Contractor submits an invoice in lieu of the General Contractor as part of the Draw Review process, the Sub-Contractor must meet the same requirements as the General Contractor. These requirements are 1) license is active, 2) license is certified or registered with Florida's Department of Business & Professional Regulation (DBPR) as either general contractor, building contractor, residential contractor, specialty contractor, or roofing contractor, and 3) license type authorizes them to perform the recommended mitigation improvements.
