Before Eligibility Confirmation:
- A Hurricane Mitigation Initial Inspection must have been completed, the Prioritization Questionnaire must have been completed, and the case has been sorted into the appropriate Grant Group. The Eligibility Confirmation will open and be available for the Applicant to complete based on an Applicant's Grant Group prioritization. Once open, an Applicant can proceed with the below steps.
Submitting the Eligibility Confirmation:
Homeowners must enter the Applicant Portal and complete the following steps to ensure submission of Grant Application Stage 1: Eligibility Confirmation.
1. "Grant Application - Insurance Information" contains information regarding the stages of the Grant Application process and insurance requirements as Applicants move throughout the Program.
- Carefully review the provided information on the two stages of the Grant Application: Eligibility Confirmation and Contractor Confirmation.
- Confirm you have read the information provided and agree to provide the applicable insurance information when required by selecting the checkbox.
- Use the blue "Upload File" button to submit evidence that the home has an insured value of $700,000 or less. An example of this documentation is the Homeowner's insurance policy's 'Declaration Page,' which should be included in your policy papers and state the insured value under Coverage A (Dwelling). Additional examples of this documentation include a quote or insurance application showing the property's address, policyholder's name, policy dates, and dwelling value. Low-Income Applicants must submit a letter stating they have no homeowners' insurance if they are not able to provide an insurance declarations page or quote.
- Select "Complete & Continue" on the step to move forward. Individuals will not be able to edit this information once the step has been completed.
2. "Grant Application - Review Eligible Projects" contains recommended Improvements from the Initial Inspection Report to be reviewed and acknowledged by the Applicant.
- Review the Recommended Improvements listed on the screen in red. These are the eligible Mitigation Projects listed from the Initial Inspection Report. If there are no recommended Improvements in the Initial Inspection Report, there will be no Improvement options listed in red. The Homeowner will not be able to proceed with a Grant Application.
- Review the Initial Inspection Report uploaded to the case. Homeowners can find the Initial Inspection Report in the Applicant Portal under the DOCUMENTS tab. Please refer to page 5 and 6 for potential eligible upgrades for the home. For any questions regarding the Initial Inspection Report or the Improvement recommendations, please contact the My Safe FL Home Inspection company directly using the information provided in the 'Inspection Assignment' email.
- Confirm reading the Initial Inspection Report and Recommended Improvements by selecting the checkbox. Only Improvements recommended by a My Safe FL Home inspector in the Initial Inspection Report and observed in the Final Inspection Report are eligible for funding.
- Click the blue box to insert an electronic signature. When the pop-up opens, enter the full legal name and click "Sign" to submit the electronic signature. This shall be considered as an original signature for all purposes and shall have the same force and effect as an original signature.
- Select "Complete & Continue" on the step to move forward. Individuals will not be able to edit this information once the step has been completed.
5. "Submit Eligibility Confirmation" contains statements to confirm all information provided is true and correct.
- Read the statement and affirm that all the information provided is true and correct by selecting the checkbox.
- Acknowledge understanding that only the Eligibility Confirmation is being submitted at this time, which does not guarantee approval of the Grant Application, and that additional information in the Contractor Confirmation stage of the Grant Application will also be used to determine Grant approval by selecting the checkbox.
- Read the statement and confirm understanding that while pending eligibility review, it is acceptable to research contractors in the area to request quotes, but Homeowners are advised against signing any contracts until the project has been approved by selecting the checkbox.
- Click the blue box to insert an electronic signature. When the pop-up opens, enter the full legal name and click "Sign" to submit the electronic signature. This shall be considered as an original signature for all purposes and shall have the same force and effect as an original signature.
- Double-check the information provided to confirm it is correct before selecting "Submit" to submit the Eligibility Confirmation. Individuals will not be able to edit this information once the step has been completed.
After Submitting the Eligibility Confirmation:
After Homeowners have updated information in the Applicant Portal, they are encouraged to regularly monitor their case in the Applicant Portal for any case status updates. You can review a list of case status terms and what they mean here: MSFH Portal Terms - My Safe Florida Home Program. Once the Eligibility Confirmation is reviewed, an update will be sent by email if the Applicant is able to proceed to Grant Application Stage 2: Contractor Confirmation.
Please Note: If there is an issue with the Eligibility Confirmation, a Request for Information (RFI) will be sent by email. The RFI email will list what information is needed to continue review of eligibility and will also include instructions on how to submit that information or documentation. If you do not respond to this request for information within sixty (60) days, the My Safe FL Home grant application will be deemed withdrawn and administratively closed.
